Neon Indian – Annie

Short post today. Just catching up on music that came out recently, I have a weak spot for Neon Indian. They released an new album Vega Intl. Night School mid last year which is fantastic, you should check it out. Here’s one of the tracks Annie and the Martin Rev remix of it.

In the 16

Well, we’re well into 2016 now, winter is almost over… right? Things are looking up; Donald Drumpf, oscarssowhite, hipster decline… What else? Leo won his first Oscar, finally. I probably missed a lot, seemingly a lot has happened in the last couple months.

It’s also a leap year! And I leaped to a new webhost with a successful migration so far. I am still in the process of upgrading the website. Visually you probably won’t even notice much of a difference, but I’m changing some of the back-end stuff. The player should now work on your mobile devices, whereas before either you needed flash or only one player showed up. What the hell? Yeah I know. Secondly, for those of you who even check my old posts, I’m in the process of bringing those back to life as well. Fixing broken links, streaming, and images. Anyways, with that behind me I can worry about better things like listening to music while working.

Now on to the music. Can’t get enough of the remix by CLOUDCHORD of Of Monsters and Men. Not sure how he does it, he uses his guitar skills with house and voila! you’ve got something he’s coined as Future Surf. Next track is the Diplo and Sleepy Tom collaborative of Be Right There that samples Jade’s Don’t Walk Away. Oh yes, EDM… am I transitioning from electronic to dance? Not yet, but this is a pretty killer track and those two genres are kinda similar anyways.

No Looking Back

Hello old friends. Was listening to RAC’s Chapter One soundcloud mix the other day and had this immense feeling of nostalgia for Sundtrak. I think my taste in music has changed over the last year or two, so I may attempt to ease the blog into it a bit. Anyways without further ado, here’s a random post like the good old days. I’m still a bit iffy about the whole Soundcloud formatted posts, but it is the most legit and easiest way I can provide streaming. Soundcloud really has taken over, it’s different from way back, but if you scroll back a post or two you’ll see why I dislike Soundcloud… tracks simply disappear. Let me know if you prefer this or the old player.

The Weeknd – Can't Feel My Face

Not really a new track, but I am truly impressed by this song and actually disappointed in myself for not having looked more into The Weeknd in the past. Remixes don’t even meet the level of the original… and I looked around. I think I really like it because the bass beat reminds me of Lacquer Behind, I mean that in a good way – common greatness.

Changes

Well, times are changing. I think the online music movement has progressed quite nicely in the last decade; official music streaming is the norm now with great paid services like Spotify, whatever Apple is coming out with, and free ones like Soundcloud, Hype Machine, Youtube. These weren’t around or weren’t popular enough when I started blogging in 2006, at the time Myspace was the most popular. What is Myspace even now? In light of this, I have removed all the old posts from the blog and am starting fresh.

Not to worry, those posts still exist securely hidden far away from anyone’s reach, but I need to update them to meet today’s music blogging standards. In other words, remove any links and replace them with streaming or official equivalents. Admittedly it will be a daunting task with 620 posts. Good news is in addition to making new posts, you will slowly see old posts come back. Slowly but surely.
