I had serious doubts on if I could continue this blog. It’s getting harder and harder to find the specific type of music I love, I fully blame that on the lack of time I have which I used to have to scour the internet. I’ve been settling for shitty remixes lately, the stuff that gets on the top 50 of Hype Machine and fully judging the scene based on that. Forget that, I’m not looking for the newest most popular anymore. I watched Drive a couple months ago and after hearing Kavinsky, I slowly developed my love again for this music. Kavinsky was one of the first house artists I listened to outside of the mainstream when I started blogging, I definitely remember obsessing over Testarossa Autodrive for nights on end. Him and SebastiAn really helped pull me into Electro House, obviously overlooking Daft Punk and Justice. I went from listening to almost exclusively indie rock to full out electro house in a matter of months, then it mutated into retro electro which was a word I made up to describe the weirder version of electro, basically what Futureflashs and Moullinex did. Anyways, reinvigorated!! Speaking of retro, the Lenno remix of Futurecop! Starrset, I can always depend on Futurecop! for that. Going back pretty far back, the Kavinsky remix of SebastiAn Embody. And two Robotaki remixes of Apparat Organ Quartet and Popular Computer.
Futurecop! – Starworshipper (Lenno Remix)
SebastiAn – Embody (Kavinsky Remix)
Apparat Organ Quartet – 123 Forever (Robotaki Remix)
Popular Computer – Lointain (Robotaki Remix)
So, my life is going 50 miles per second. Schools catching up on me and it seems my stuff is more interesting than I thought. I wish I had more time to listen to music because that world is becoming more and more exciting, I’m anticipating a good year. That’s my excuse, take it. New Feist album, I know, isn’t this an electro blog? No! Not completely. Also the new Justice album which I’m hoping is great despite that awful remix. Yeah okay, that’s about it, but I have good vibes. I totally missed the new SebastiAn and Carte Blanche albums coming from Ed Banger, more stuff for me to catch up on. I decided today not to post the newest tracks out there, but ones by my favorite musicians/producers. First is the Falcon Punch edit of Moullinex Lover In Me Ah Moulinex, how I miss thee. Please do some more remixes, I know your original stuff is great and probably more important but your remixes were pure gold. Second is the Breakbot remix of Pnau Baby which I was shown is on the GT5 soundtrack. And lastly, the Robotaki remix of Kavinsky. Old but still, I love everything Robotaki makes. Oh, and thanks Sam for the image.
Moullinex – Lover in Me (Falcon Punch Re-edit)
Pnau – Baby (Breakbot Remix)
I totally missed April Fools. I didn’t fool anyone nor did anyone fool me. That’s disappointing and quite anticlimactic compared to the one from 2009, unfortunately all the comments were deleted. I’ll keep something in mind for next year. I’ve been absolutely garbage at checking my email the last couple weeks, so these tracks are a result of music blog skimming. Yea, I take no credit for finding these tracks on my own except for the SposhRock remix. First off, the Fred Falke remix of Metronomy. Is there a Fred Falke remix I haven’t liked? No, greatness as usual. Relatively new SebastiAn track Embody and a new Kavinsky remix of the track. I think I’m in heaven, this totally reminds me of the good old days when I started blogging. You can check out the video for the original track here. And lastly, the SposhRock remix of Miami Horror Holidays. It’s calmer than the other ones but I like it.
Metronomy – The Look (Fred Falke Remix)
SebastiAn – Embody (Kavinsky Remix)
Miami Horror – Holidays (SposhRock Remix)
Well, another Kavinsky remix, I seem to really like this track. This track seems like it was sped up which I really liked and more club, pretty impressive Studio Brussels. There’s a bunch of remixes of this track out there, I won’t post any more of them though. It’s a pet peeve of mine to post the same track too many times despite the fact I’ve done it before. Second, yet another club track, is the Skrillex club mix of Lady GaGa Alejandro. This is my second Lady GaGa track this month, what’s happening? Her tracks are catchy. And lastly, the Cold Blank remix of Does It Offend You, Yeah? I definitely heard this track before but never linked it to being DIOYY, I don’t even know why, it was a pretty popular track. I think I heard it in a mixtape or something. Cold Blank actually managed to change the track enough that it doesn’t sound a lot like the original, great stuff.
Kavinsky – Nightcall (Studio Brussels Remix)
Lady GaGa – Alejandro (Skrillex Club Mix)
Does It Offend You, Yeah? – We Are Rockstars (Cold Blank Remix)
Oi! Changed a couple things starting with this post. No more Mediafire (or 3rd party links) for one thing, the files will now be hosted off of here although that doesn’t guarantee how long they’ll be up for. I need to figure out how long files should remain available for download. The player has also been updated, it’s much more user friendly now and you should like it. I will update some of the older posts as I come along them, but don’t expect the majority of the older posts to be updated. Now to test it out! First track is the Vim Cortez remix of Kavinsky Nightcall, amazing remix is all I really need to say. The intro is epic, it adds a hard edge to the track which I definitely enjoyed. Finally, some house electro, I definitely regretfully strayed away from that whole genre because there was little new content coming from any of the major artists. Haven’t heard from Justice in a while although they do have an album planned for this year, Daft Punk is on their typical sabbatical, I know they’re the tip of the iceberg of house but they definitely led the scene into mainstream. Anyways, next track is the James Rutledge remix of Ellie Goulding Guns and Horses which is from her most recent single and will be in her upcoming album Lights. And lastly, the Copycat mash-up of The Young Punx Burn Burn Burn and Depeche Mode Photographic. Totally digging the sound from this track.
