Sunny Sunday

Making a post before I head out today, looks fantastic where I am. First track is a strange sounding one, and I love how strange it sounds, the Gesaffelstein remix of Phoenix Bankrupt! The track itself, released in the same titled album last year, is also a strange mix of sounds but Gesaffelstein went up and beyond in the remix with an almost Adam’s Family take to it. Second up is the RAC Remix of The Knocks Classic. These are two artists that I love, the original track Classic is an awesome summer track. And lastly, reversed, a The Knocks remix of RAC’s Cheap Sunglasses. Again, can’t go without mentioning the original track.

Stress

Aye, surely I would have anticipated this, but I was unexpectedly signed up to some courses. Yes, I never noticed until a week after the courses had started that I was enrolled, so I am much busier than I ever want to be. Unfortunately this means the blog will take a back seat in terms of priority, I am really hoping Sundtrak isn’t on its last lifeline here. I remember when I first started out, I saw other music blogs simply closing because the owner didn’t have the time to manage it and I thought to myself, “how could that ever happen?” At the time I was posting at least once a day. Ideally I would have an unlimited data cell plan and used that to listen to music constantly during down times. Oh well, I love this blog and I will continue to love it!

So, The Knocks remix of Tegan and Sara Closer. Fuck yes. I mean the original is already amazing, even though I had absolutely no idea that’s what Tegan and Sara sounded like. I admit I never really gave them a chance before, despite being Canadian and definitely having heard their stuff on the radio but not putting two and two together, I was expecting more Broken Social Scene style. Anyways, I will have to listen to their earlier stuff. The Knocks makes another killer remix. While I’m at it, here’s one from 2010 by Passion Pit and RAC of Alligator. This just became a Tegan and Sara post… unintended.

Week’s End

I didn’t have to look too hard for these ones, as per my last post; The Hype Machine isn’t ALL dubstep, so this is all looking up! First off, the Lenno remix of Atlas Genius Trojans, what an amazing remix, loving what he did with the track. Listening to some Atlas Genius tracks, my indie self is getting really into loving the original track as well, so make sure you check that out. Second is a great track suggested by Steffen, the Parachute Youth remix of RUFUS This Summer, can’t get enough of it man! It’s never too late, I was posting Van She remixes years after it was made back in the day, doesn’t change the fact that the track sounds great! I’ll end off with TheFatRat remix of The KnocksThe Feeling. Really enjoyed these three tracks, hope you do too!

Hanna Electro

I watched Hanna the other day and I think I was most impressed by the music, that might be the Chemical Brothers fan within me speaking. It was like the whole realization that Trent Reznor produced the music for Quake all over again, except I walked in expecting it. The movie was pretty good, slightly predictable but absolutely entertaining. If anything, I would suggest not watching the trailer to the movie before watching it. Probably not watch trailers in general. Maybe someone can help me out, in the ending credits they played the vocal version of Hanna’s Theme, but there was a second song after that which was awesome, what was that song? My memory is so bad I can’t even figure out which song it is in the soundtrack or if it even is in it.

Anyways, I included the song Escape Wavefold from the Hanna soundtrack by The Chemical Brothers. It’s one of my favorite songs from the movie, although I wish there was more of that beat that starts at 45 seconds. You can listen to some of the soundtrack here. Second is a great remix by The Knocks of Foster The People Pumped Up Kicks which slightly reminds me of the Black Kids. And lastly, another Civilization remix of Justice by Dalcan. It’s one of my preferred ones out there.

Mid-Week Update

0565-DS-20131220

A mid-week update for you, unfortunately some of the tracks are a couple days older than I’d like them to be. Falling a couple days behind is like blog death, I should really stop traveling. Maybe if people stopped emailing me spam and emailed me just good stuff, in a perfect world. First off, I couldn’t stop listening to this track, the Siriusmo remix of Chromeo. I’d like to hear them turn this into their own standalone track somehow, although I do love you so Chromeo. Surprisingly clean for a remix. Second is the Knocks remix of Ellie Goulding who seemed to make a big bang last week on Hype. She was one of the most searched, I was afraid to look at why. Seems there was a remix madness for her new track Under The Sheets, probably for the single? Loads of great remixes, I’ll see if I can pull off posting another one, and yes I’m completely in a pop mood at the moment. I love you Ellie! And lastly, the Def Starr remix of Phoenix‘s Fences. Really liked the ambiance *thick pompous British accent* that went with the track. No but seriously, can’t get enough of it, just put the intro on repeat.
